Amazon Lockers and Counters are a secure, convenient way to pick up orders, whether you’re on the move, away from home, or just keeping packages off your doorstep. Each one has size and weight limits, and knowing them up front saves you from finding out at checkout that pickup isn’t an option.

Here’s the short version:

If an order is too big or heavy for either, Amazon simply won’t offer pickup for it at checkout and defaults to home delivery, so you’ll know before you buy.

Amazon Locker: best for smaller packages

Amazon Lockers are self-service kiosks in places like grocery stores, shopping centers, and gas stations. To qualify for Locker delivery, an order needs to:

  • Weigh under 10 lb.
  • Fit within 16 x 12 x 14 inches, about the size of a small microwave.
  • Be sold or fulfilled by Amazon. Items shipped directly by a third-party seller don’t qualify.
  • Be worth less than $5,000.
  • Not be restricted. Hazardous materials, Subscribe & Save items, items shipping from other countries, and Release-Date Delivery items can’t go to a Locker.

Amazon Counter: room for bigger items

Amazon Counters are staffed pickup points at retail spots like pharmacies and convenience stores, where an employee holds your package until you collect it. Counters take more:

  • Up to 33 lb in weight.
  • Up to 36 x 24 x 24 inches, big enough for small appliances or bulky electronics.
  • Sold or fulfilled by Amazon, same as Lockers.
  • No items that need special handling.

Some retail partners set tighter limits than Amazon’s standard, so it’s worth checking the specific location when you order.

Which should you choose?

It comes down to the package. Small and light, and a Locker is quick and available around the clock. Larger or heavier, and a Counter gives you the room. Either way, your order is stored securely instead of sitting on a porch.
